MIDDLE EAST
Although part of Asia, the Middle East is an unique region that truly deserves recognition. I call this part of the world Home, as I live in the UAE. Since moving here, the Middle East has offered me countless experiences that have significantly shaped my perspective on life.
The Middle East is often referred to as the cradle of civilization.
Have you ever heard of Qanat, the Venice of Qatar? Or seen the magnificent salt formations at the Dead Sea? The UAE features beautiful beaches with waters that rival the Maldives. Plus, Salalah in Oman experiences a monsoon season, transforming it into a lush paradise akin to any tropical jungle in Southern Asia.
I’ll never forget the intense emotions I felt when I visited Jerusalem or Petra; I was deeply moved by both experiences. My visit to Qatar’s National Museum taught me so much about our world, especially the rich culture of the nomadic life. I must also highlight the amazing food in the Middle East. From the delicious Turkish breakfasts, to the traditional mansaf lunch in Jordan, and then flavorful shuwa dinner in Oman. And don’t forget the sweet delight of kunafa, which is famously from the Levant region!
And I must say, the Middle East is my favorite place in the world to watch sunsets; they are truly magical.
Living in the Middle East has changed my life forever. This incredible experience has allowed me to see the world from a different perspective. With its ancient civilizations, timeless landscapes, and striking skylines, the Middle East is a land where history and modernity intertwine. It’s a place where the weight of the past coexists with a vibrant spirit of innovation.
